چکیده

Research on the behavior and fate of pesticides in the environment has provided a number of valuable techniques for assessing the impact of any organic substance intentionally or unintentionally released in the environment. These techniques can be applied to the 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) to determine its behavior under comparable conditions. Important parameters affecting the environmental life history of any compound are movement, persistence, metabolism, plant uptake, translocation, photodecomposition, volatilization, and bioconcentration. Once these environmental properties are known about a compound, its anticipated behavior

Sub and Supercritical Decontamination of Oil-Based Drill Cuttings: A Review

Drill mud is a fluid which is used in oil extraction industries in order to cool and lubricate the drill bit. Due to containing numerous toxic components, it is considered as a hazardous waste which must be treated before discharging to the environment. Current separation techniques for drill cutting treatment can be categorized into three main categories of physical (dewatering), physiochemica...

Using starch powder for the decontamination of I-131 in isolation rooms

Introduction: Various iodine isotopes are undergoing radioactive decay except Iodine-127 (I-127. Iodine I-131 is unsealed radioactive material used in nuclear medicine for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in Royal Hospital since 2006. In radiotoxic classification, I-131 is in group 2 element. I-131 is highly reactive element due to its volatilization nature. Currently...

Decontamination of Water Polluted with Phenol using Raphanus sativus Root

Plant materials have been found useful in decontamination of water polluted with phenolic compounds. The detoxification effect is due to peroxidases contained in plant tissue. Enzyme mediated oxidative coupling of phenol is followed by precipitation of the formed polymer and its removal from the aqueous phase. A synthetic wastewater buffered at pH = 7.4 containing 0.9 mM phenol was treated in t...

Assessing the efficiency of floor disinfection on bacterial decontamination in sanandaj governmental hospitals

Despite regular disinfection and decontamination of the hospital floors and surfaces, resistant pathogens from the hospital surfaces and their transmission to humans have been reported recently. The resistance of pathogens to the disinfectant agents or failed disinfection techniques have put the routine floor and non-critical surface disinfection done in hospitals into question with regard to t...

Microbial Decontamination of Spices Using Cold Plasma

Most of spices are produced using traditional systems. In unsanitary conditions, spices can contain large numbers of pathogenic microbes such as bacteria, molds and yeasts. Some microorganisms are known as human pathogens, which need disinfection mechanisms that minimize their potential harms to active substances in spices. Use of contaminated spices in foods can significantly decrease the shel...
